    Data freshness and imports

How often imports run, how far back data reaches, platform delays, and import errors

ContentMate reads your accounts' values from the platforms in regular imports and stores them. Analytics always shows these stored values. This article explains how current they are, how far back they reach and what happens on errors.

    Imports and status

Every account is imported every two hours. Below the period picker you see the status of the selected account:

    StatusMeaning
Up to dateThe last import was less than six hours ago.
Out of dateThe last import was more than six hours ago.
No data yetNo import ran for the account yet, for example right after connecting.
Import failedThe last import failed; the reason is shown next to it.

"Data as of" is the time of the latest stored data, "Next import" the time from which the account is due again.

    When an import fails

Every import tries again; an account is never blocked after an error. The message says what to do:

    • Connection expired or revoked: The platform no longer accepts the access. Reconnect the account in the settings; until then the stored values stay visible.
    • Request quota used up (YouTube): The next import after midnight Pacific time catches up.
    • Platform not reachable or import interrupted: The next import tries again.
    • Some values could not be read: The import stored what it could read; the next one tries the rest.

How far back the data reaches

When you connect an account, ContentMate fetches what the platform offers retroactively:

    PlatformDaily valuesPosts
Instagramthe last 90 daysall posts with their lifetime totals; stories only while they are live
Facebookthe last 90 daysall posts with their lifetime totals
TikToknone, TikTok delivers only current levelsall public videos with their lifetime totals
YouTubethe last two yearsall videos; the values from YouTube Analytics per video step by step, up to 100 videos per import

For Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, ContentMate works out the follower course before the first import from the daily gains and losses; on TikTok it starts with the first import. Values that come from the growth of posts (all of them on TikTok) exist only from the first import on.

    Platform delays

    • YouTube reports daily values only after two to three days. The latest days of a period are therefore missing, and the card says "Not reported for all days".
    • Instagram and Facebook revise the values of the last days; every import reads them again. Instagram reports new and lost followers one to two days later.
    • TikTok delivers levels at the time of the import.

Instagram, Facebook and YouTube count days in Pacific time (California). A daily value belongs to the day with the same date in the period, even if your workspace is in another time zone.

    Values of single posts

ContentMate reads a post's lifetime totals less often the older it is: on the first day at every import, in the first week every six hours, in the first month daily, up to 90 days weekly, after that at least every 28 days. TikTok videos are read at every import. For older posts the posts table therefore shows the state of the last read.
