Dashboard

Statistics, scheduled posts, messages, and notes at a glance

The Dashboard is your central hub in Content Mate. After logging in, you land here to get an at-a-glance overview of your social media activity. It shows key performance indicators, upcoming scheduled posts, your latest inbox messages, quick action buttons, a pinboard for team notes, connected account status, and recent activity. Everything you need to start your day is visible without navigating away.

The top of the dashboard displays the name of your currently active workspace as a heading. Below the name, a subtitle indicates that this is your workspace overview. On the right side, the current date is shown (visible on desktop only) in your locale format. This helps you orient yourself when you log in each day.

KPI Cards

Below the header, four statistic cards summarize the most important metrics for your workspace. Each card has a colored accent bar on the left side, a title in uppercase, a large number, and a trend indicator showing the change compared to the previous period.

Posts This Month

The total number of posts published during the current month. The trend indicator below shows the percentage change compared to the previous month. A rising number indicates that you are posting more frequently, which is generally positive for algorithmic visibility and audience retention.

Engagement Rate

The average interaction rate across all your posts, calculated as the sum of reactions, comments, and shares divided by reach. This metric tells you how actively your audience interacts with your content. A higher engagement rate means your content resonates well with your followers.

Scheduled Posts

The number of posts that are currently scheduled but not yet published. The sub-text indicates how many of those are scheduled for today. This card helps you quickly see whether you have content lined up or if you need to plan new posts.

Active Accounts

The number of social media accounts currently connected to this workspace, along with how many different platforms they span. For example, "3 on 2 platforms" means you have three accounts across two different social networks (such as one Facebook and two Instagram accounts).

Upcoming Posts

This section occupies the left portion of a two-column layout and shows your next scheduled posts in a timeline format. Each entry displays:

  • A platform icon (Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok) in a circular timeline node
  • The scheduled time in a monospace font
  • The account avatar and name of the social account the post will be published to
  • A preview of the caption text (truncated if long)
  • A thumbnail image if the post includes media

Click on any post to jump to the calendar view for that specific day. The "View all" link in the top-right corner takes you directly to the full calendar.

If no posts are scheduled, an empty state message appears with a "Create post" link to quickly open the post wizard.

Inbox Preview

To the right of the upcoming posts, the inbox preview shows your unread message count and the three most recent conversations. The unread count is displayed as a large number, highlighted in your theme color when there are unread messages.

Each conversation entry shows:

  • The sender's profile picture with a platform badge (Facebook or Instagram)
  • The sender's name (bold if the conversation is unread)
  • A preview of the last message
  • A blue dot indicator for unread conversations

Click on a conversation to go directly to that conversation in the inbox. The "Open" link in the top-right corner takes you to the full inbox view.

Quick Actions

Below the two-column area, a row of four action buttons provides fast access to the main areas of Content Mate. Each button has an icon, a label, and an optional badge showing a count.

ButtonDescriptionBadge
Create PostOpens the 4-step post creation wizardNone

The badges on the Inbox and Calendar buttons are red and appear only when there are unread messages or posts scheduled for today. This helps you immediately see which areas need your attention.

Pinboard

The pinboard is a note-taking system shared across all members of your workspace. It allows your team to create categories, organize notes by topic, and keep important information visible to everyone.

Categories

Categories are color-coded columns that group related notes. To create a new category:

  1. Click the "New Category" button in the top-right corner of the pinboard
  2. Enter a name for the category
  3. Select a color from the available palette (amber, blue, green, red, purple, pink, and more)
  4. Click the checkmark to confirm

Each category header shows the category name, a note count badge, and on hover, edit and delete buttons. You can rename a category or change its color at any time by clicking the pencil icon.

Notes

Notes are short text entries within a category. To add a note:

  1. Click the "Add" button (dashed border) at the bottom of a category column
  2. Type your note text in the text area that appears
  3. Press Ctrl+Enter (or Cmd+Enter on Mac) or click "Add" to save
  4. Click "Cancel" to discard

Each note card shows the text content (truncated at 120 characters), the author name, and on hover, a star icon and a delete icon. Click on a note card to open it in a detail modal where you can read the full text, edit it, star it, or delete it.

Starring Notes

Click the star icon on a note to mark it as important. Starred notes display a filled amber star. Click again to remove the star. Starring is a personal way to highlight notes that are particularly relevant to you or your team.

Editing and Deleting Notes

In the note detail modal:

  • Click "Edit" to switch to edit mode, make your changes, then click "Save"
  • Click the trash icon to permanently delete the note
  • Click the star icon to toggle the starred status

Connected Accounts

Below the pinboard, a section lists all social media accounts connected to this workspace. Each account shows:

  • The platform icon (Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok)
  • The display name of the account
  • A status indicator dot with one of four states:
StatusColorDescription
ConnectedGreenThe account is fully connected and operational
SyncingAmber (pulsing)The account is currently syncing data (typically after first connection)
ErrorRedThere is a problem with the account connection (e.g., expired token)
Not initializedGrayThe account has not been set up yet

Hover over the status dot to see a tooltip with the status description. Click "Manage" in the top-right corner to go to the Settings page where you can add or remove accounts.

Recent Activity

The bottom section of the dashboard shows a feed of recent activity in your workspace. Each activity entry has an icon, a title, a description, and a timestamp. Activity types include:

  • Post (message icon) -- A post was published or scheduled
  • Engagement (heart icon) -- New reactions or interactions on your posts
  • Scheduled (clock icon) -- A new post was added to the schedule
  • General activity (activity icon) -- Other workspace-related events

If there is no recent activity, an empty state message is displayed encouraging you to connect accounts and start posting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are my KPI cards showing zero?

KPI cards show data for the current month. If you have just connected your accounts, analytics data needs to be imported first. This process runs automatically and may take up to an hour for the first import. Check back after some time.

How often is the dashboard data refreshed?

Dashboard data is loaded when you open the page. To see updated numbers, refresh the browser page or navigate away and back to the dashboard.

Can other team members see my pinboard notes?

Yes. The pinboard is shared across all members of the workspace. Every note you create is visible to all team members. However, starring a note is personal and does not affect what others see.

Why does the inbox preview show no messages?

The inbox preview only shows messages from platforms that support direct messaging in Content Mate (Facebook Messenger and Instagram Direct). If you have only connected TikTok, no inbox messages will appear because TikTok messaging is not supported.

Can I customize which widgets appear on the dashboard?

The dashboard layout is fixed and cannot be customized. All sections (KPI cards, upcoming posts, inbox preview, quick actions, pinboard, connected accounts, recent activity) are always shown.
