    Connect your TikTok account

Sign-in, permissions, account selection, and reconnection step by step

Connect your TikTok account to a ContentMate workspace to prepare videos and photo posts, schedule publishing and review available metrics. You sign in and grant access directly on TikTok. Connecting an account does not upload or publish any content.

    Requirements

    • You are signed in to ContentMate and have selected the correct workspace.
    • Your workspace role allows you to connect social media accounts. Permission to view analytics alone is not sufficient.
    • You can sign in to the intended TikTok account and authorise access.
    • The workspace owner's plan has an available account slot. Both the TikTok account limit and the total social account limit can apply.
    • TikTok has not restricted the account from posting if you intend to publish content.

You do not need a Facebook account or a linked Facebook Page for this connection. TikTok connects independently of Instagram and Facebook. TikTok determines which privacy settings, interactions and video lengths are available for each account.

    Connect step by step

    1. Open Workspace settings and the social media accounts section.
    2. Click Connect TikTok on the TikTok card.
    3. Sign in on TikTok with the intended account. Check the displayed identity carefully if you use several accounts.
    4. Review the requested access. Grant the permissions for the ContentMate features you intend to use.
    5. Complete TikTok's dialogue and wait to return to ContentMate.
    6. Check the connected account's display name and profile picture in settings.
    7. Open the planner or analytics and select this account.

Complete the process in one session where possible. Signing out of ContentMate, changing workspace during the flow or reopening an old return link can prevent the authorisation from matching the connection you started. Start a new attempt from account settings if this happens.

Enter your TikTok password on TikTok's sign-in page. ContentMate then uses the access you granted; you do not need to enter a TikTok password into ContentMate.

What do the requested permissions do?

ContentMate requests the required areas together when you connect. The technical names below can help explain an error, but you do not need to configure them yourself.

PermissionPurpose in ContentMateWhat may be unavailable without it
Basic profile (user.info.basic)Identify the account and display its name and profile pictureThe basic connection may fail
Profile information (user.info.profile)Read additional available profile detailsSome profile information may be missing
Profile statistics (user.info.stats)Import available follower, like and video totalsProfile metrics are limited
Read videos (video.list)Import available public videos and their metricsVideo analysis is limited
Direct publishing (video.publish)Publish posts directly to TikTok after processingDirect publishing is not authorised
Send to TikTok (video.upload)Transfer content to the TikTok inbox for completion thereUploading for completion in the TikTok app is not authorised

TikTok may allow you to decline individual permissions. An account being connected therefore does not guarantee that every feature is available. Analytics, direct publishing and uploading for completion in the TikTok app require different access. This mapping follows TikTok's permissions.

The connection does not include management of TikTok direct messages or comment replies in ContentMate. Publishing permission does not grant these features either. A comment count in analytics is not a list of comments.

    What happens after connecting?

    In the planner

The account appears as a publishing destination. When you select it, ContentMate loads its current creator settings: identity, available visibility choices, permitted video length, and restrictions on comments, Duet and Stitch. These can change, for example after you update privacy settings in TikTok.

Select one TikTok account per post. Create a separate post for a second TikTok account so its own privacy and interaction settings can be checked. See Schedule TikTok posts for each option.

    In analytics

ContentMate regularly imports the available data, processes it and displays stored results. Granting account access and completing the first import are separate steps. The initial analytics view may therefore be empty immediately after connecting.

Existing public videos can be imported with their current lifetime totals. That does not recreate an exact daily history from before the connection. ContentMate needs consecutive observations to calculate changes. Read Understand TikTok analytics and the metrics glossary for details.

When sending to the TikTok inbox

This mode sends content to the TikTok app for completion. It is separate from the ContentMate inbox. You receive a TikTok notification, open the content there and complete publishing. A successful transfer alone does not make a post public.

    Add missing permissions or reconnect

    1. Open the affected account's settings or follow the missing-permission notice.
    2. Choose Reconnect.
    3. Sign in with the same TikTok account. Reconnecting a specific existing account must not accidentally replace it with another one.
    4. Review the requested access and grant the missing permissions.
    5. Return to ContentMate and check the affected area again.

After granting statistics access, data appears after the next successful import. Reconnecting does not create metrics that TikTok does not provide through the interface used by ContentMate.

Access is renewed automatically while TikTok permits it. You do not need to reconnect every day. You will need to authorise again if you revoke access in TikTok, the authorisation expires or TikTok invalidates it. Automatic renewal cannot reverse a deliberate revocation. TikTok documents this process in its access management guide.

    Common problems

    SituationWhat to check
The redirect does not startCheck the active workspace, your account connection permission and the displayed error, then start again
TikTok authorisation was deniedRestart the flow and grant the access you want; check for account restrictions in TikTok
Invalid or expired return linkDo not reuse an old link; start a new connection attempt from settings
The wrong TikTok account was selectedCancel, select the correct account in TikTok and connect again
A plan limit is displayedCheck account usage and the workspace owner's plan; additional workspaces do not bypass these limits
Connected, but publishing is blockedCheck publishing permission, creator information, selected visibility and account restrictions
Connected, but analytics is emptyCheck statistics permissions, import status, account selection and date range; allow the first import to complete
Specific analytics fields are missingCheck the metrics glossary to see whether TikTok actually provides the data; another authorisation does not expand the available data

    Disconnect the account

Open the account in workspace settings and use the disconnect action. Read the confirmation dialogue, especially if posts are still scheduled for the account. Once access is revoked, pending publishing jobs and further data imports can no longer use that connection.

ContentMate may temporarily display Disconnecting while revocation completes. An account card still appearing during that stage does not mean the connection remains available as before. Check the account list and remaining scheduled work when it finishes. Disconnecting does not automatically delete posts already published on TikTok.
