Reach Metrics

Impressions, reach, reach rate, and reach by post type

The Reach section in the Analytics Dashboard shows you how many people see your content. Here you'll find impressions, reach, and their development over time.

Opening the Reach Tab

Reach tab with impressions, reach, and reach history

Open Analytics in the side menu and click on the Reach tab. Alternatively, select Reach directly from the sidebar submenu.

Reach vs. Impressions

Two important terms that differ:

  • Impressions (Total Views) - How often your content was displayed in total, including multiple views by the same person
  • Reach - Number of unique people who saw your content. Each person is counted only once

Example: If 100 people see your post and 20 of them view it twice, you have 120 impressions but a reach of 100.

KPI Cards

Total Views

The total number of times your content was displayed during the selected period, including repeat views by the same person. The card shows a sparkline trend and the percentage change compared to the previous period. Note that these values are estimated. A rising trend indicates growing visibility for your content across the platform.

Reach

The total number of unique people who saw your content during the selected period. Unlike total views, each person is counted only once regardless of how many times they viewed your content. This metric is not available for TikTok due to API limitations. A comparison with the previous period helps you gauge whether your audience is expanding.

Avg Views per Post

The average number of views each of your posts received during the selected period. This normalizes your total views by post count, making it useful for comparing performance across periods with different posting frequencies. A rising average indicates that your content quality or algorithmic reach is improving.

Avg Reach per Post

The average number of unique people who saw each post. This tells you how many individuals a typical post reaches, independent of your total posting volume. Compare this with your follower count to understand what percentage of your audience sees a given post.

Avg Reach Rate (Page Likes)

The percentage of your page likes (fans) who see your posts on average. This metric reveals how effectively the platform algorithm delivers your content to people who already liked your page. A typical organic reach rate is 5-15%; values above that indicate strong algorithmic performance.

Avg Reach Rate (Followers)

The percentage of your followers who see your posts on average. Similar to the page likes rate but based on follower count, this shows how well your content penetrates your follower base. Due to algorithmic filtering, typically only 10-20% of followers see any given post.

Charts

Reach History Chart

A line chart showing the daily reach (unique people) over time. The X-axis shows days and the Y-axis shows the number of people reached. Use this to identify on which days your content reached particularly many or few people, and look for correlations with your publishing schedule or content types.

Reach by Post Type

A bar chart comparing the average reach achieved by each content type, such as photo, video, link, reel, or status. This helps you determine which format resonates most with the algorithm and your audience. Reels and video content often achieve the highest reach due to platform prioritization.

Top Posts by Reach

Three post cards displaying your highest-reach posts during the selected period. Each card shows a preview image, post type, reach count, impressions, and engagement rate. Analyzing your top performers helps you understand what content characteristics drive the widest distribution.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are reach data marked as "estimated values"?

Platform APIs deliver reach data as estimates because exact deduplication (removal of duplicate views) is not always possible in real time. The values are nevertheless very accurate and reliable.

Why do I not see reach for my TikTok account?

TikTok does not provide reach data through its API. This is a TikTok platform limitation, not a Content Mate limitation. Instead, you can use "Views" as a reference value.

What is the difference between reach and followers?

Your follower count shows how many people follow you. Reach shows how many of them (and additional non-followers) actually see your content. Due to the algorithm, typically only 10-20% of your followers see a particular post.

How can I increase my reach?

  • Post at the best times (see Engagement tab -> Heatmap)
  • Use different content formats (Reels often have the highest reach)
  • Encourage early engagement (comments and shares in the first 30 minutes)
  • Use relevant hashtags
