    Understand TikTok analytics

Video lifetime totals, measured activity, periods, data history, and API limitations

TikTok analytics in ContentMate tracks profile growth, video views, likes, comments, shares and publishing frequency. This guide explains the dashboard and its data basis. The TikTok metrics glossary defines each value, formula and worked example.

Checked: 11 October 2026. This guide describes ContentMate's current connection. TikTok Studio can display additional metrics that this integration does not supply.

Select an account and reporting period

    1. Open Analytics and select the connected TikTok account at the top. Check the account name when a workspace contains several profiles.
    2. Select Today, Yesterday, 7, 14, 30, 90 or 365 days, This year, or a Custom range.
    3. Check the status row showing Import, Aggregation and Data time.
    4. Open the relevant section: Overview, Engagement, Community, Reach, Content or All media.

An available date range does not guarantee complete historical data. A newly connected account can already show cumulative video values while daily changes remain unavailable. Use ranges with suitable stored data for reliable comparisons.

Account reporting boundaries take the workspace time zone into account. Comparisons with TikTok also require matching date ranges and observation dates. This connection does not provide a complete hourly TikTok activity measurement. A daily value must not be interpreted as a measured distribution across individual hours.

    Import, calculation and display

ContentMate regularly imports available TikTok profile and video data in the background. Stored observations are then processed into daily values, period reports and individual video metrics. The analytics interface reads these values from the ContentMate database. Opening a tab, changing the date range or reloading a chart does not query TikTok analytics live.

    Status labelMeaning
ImportRecorded import time; not necessarily the time of every individual event on TikTok.
AggregationWhen imported data was calculated or prepared for reporting.
Data timeLatest available data timestamp, where this can be established.
Stale / ErrorAn update is missing or failed. Previously stored values are not automatically wrong, but they may be outdated.

Publication, TikTok's own counter updates, import and processing do not necessarily happen at the same time. The interface is not a real-time ticker. A new import may improve only part of a report when permissions or historical baselines are missing elsewhere.

The connected TikTok Display API supplies profile information and public videos. It is not a complete copy of every TikTok Studio report.

Keep three types of value separate

    Profile totals

Followers is a total at an available observation within the relevant reporting period. The additional Following, Profile likes and Total videos cards show the latest imported profile snapshot and cannot be divided into the selected reporting period.

Do not add daily follower totals. Having 1,000 followers yesterday and 1,020 today means a current count of 1,020. Observed net growth is 20 if a suitable baseline is available.

    Activity during the period

TikTok supplies cumulative video counters. ContentMate observes changes in these counters: if an existing video has 10,000 views in an earlier import and 10,600 in a later one, 600 additional views were observed. The Period and Difference between imports notes refer to this calculation.

Older videos can receive new views and interactions during the current period. Account activity is therefore not restricted to newly published videos. Decreasing counters remain negative net corrections; they do not represent negative people or videos playing backwards.

    Individual videos' cumulative values

All media shows the imported video inventory with its latest stored cumulative values. It is independent of the selected reporting period. The example video's 10,600 total views do not need to match the period card's 600 views.

An average per post published in the period uses a particular video selection based on publication date and cumulative values observed by period end. It is not simply total account activity divided by the number of new videos. The metrics glossary illustrates the distinction.

ContentPublished videos, history, monthly distribution and publications by weekdayPosting frequency is not measured follower online activity.
All mediaImported videos and available cumulative metricsPeriod-independent inventory; drafts and scheduled posts awaiting publication are not imported published videos.

Not every general dashboard card is available for TikTok. A hidden or explicitly unavailable value must not be replaced by a similarly named metric with a different meaning.

    Read charts and comparisons

Hover over a data point to see its date, metric and value. Check the unit: count, percent, posts per day or video duration. A percentage and an absolute count cannot be added together.

0 is a known measured value. — and gaps indicate missing or unreliable data. A line across a period does not prove that every hour was measured separately. A wider date range helps with a data gap only when suitable stored starting and ending observations exist.

A card's percentage change compares the current value with the previous one: (current − previous) ÷ previous × 100. A change from 100 to 150 means +50%. A previous value of zero or a missing baseline makes this percentage undefined.

The dashboard engagement rate compares period interactions with the follower count. An individual video's engagement rate compares its cumulative interactions with its cumulative views. A larger number does not establish better performance without understanding this context.

    Inspect an individual video

    1. Open All media and select the TikTok account.
    2. Locate the video using the available title, date and preview information. Note the displayed selection and any pagination.
    3. Inspect views, likes, comments, shares and the available engagement rate. These values belong to the video as a whole.
    4. Use the original-post link to check publication and visible counters directly on TikTok when needed.

A newly published video may not appear until the next successful import. Private content and drafts need not appear in the public video list. Publishing photos also does not promise complete photo analytics: this connection analyses the video records TikTok supplies. The actual returned inventory determines coverage. TikTok describes this list as public video posts.

A video duration of 1:15 describes its length. It is not average watch duration. Comment counts are statistics; the ContentMate Inbox currently has no TikTok comment management.

    Analyse your publishing rhythm

Post history groups publications by date. Monthly distribution groups the same publication information by month and year. A video belongs to the month when it was published, even if most later views occur in the following month.

In the weekday chart, a bar shows the total number of posts for that weekday. Average posts/day divides this total by the number of available daily records for that weekday. Eight posts over four observed Mondays mean two posts per Monday. Missing dates are not inserted as measured zeros.

These figures help assess publishing consistency. They do not establish when followers are online or when a future post is guaranteed to perform best. The account-specific best posting times heatmap is currently unavailable for TikTok in this analytics dashboard.

Why historical daily values are initially missing

The initial connection can import existing public videos and their current cumulative counters. This does not supply a historical daily timeline. A video with 50,000 views at the first import does not reveal how many occurred yesterday, last week or last month.

Changes to older videos require appropriate baseline observations. The first cumulative count is not treated as newly gained activity from zero. Daily values require observations close enough to the relevant boundaries; multi-day gaps are not artificially spread evenly across missing days.

Even one video with a missing baseline can affect an account total's completeness. Read coverage notices together with the figure. An incomplete period is not a complete value with automatically zero activity on the remaining days.

    Troubleshoot missing or different figures

ObservationWhat to check and do next
Profile appears, analytics is emptyCheck the account and granted statistics/video permissions. Reconnect the account if a required permission is missing.
Cumulative values exist, daily activity is missingSuitable historical baseline observations may be missing. Further successful background imports build the history.
Individual days are missingCheck import coverage and data time. A longer period can be usable without every daily difference being known.
Values differ from TikTok StudioMatch account, range, time zone, data freshness and cumulative versus period values. Studio also offers other metrics.
Profile likes exceed period likesA profile total is being compared with an observed period change; different figures are expected.
Negative likes or commentsPossible withdrawn actions, deleted comments or counter corrections. This is a net difference, not a gross event log.
A new video is missingCheck publication and public visibility, then inspect successful background imports and data time.
Follower gains or losses are missingThis connection does not supply separate gross counts. Use the available net change.
An API or permission error persistsSend support the visible error, account, range and status timestamps. Do not send passwords or access tokens.

Studio metrics that are unavailable here

This connection does not provide unique reach, watch time, average watch duration, completion rate, saves, profile visits, link clicks or demographic breakdowns. TikTok's Video Object and user statistics reference define the underlying data available to this integration.

Reconnecting cannot create metrics that the connected API does not supply. It can restore missing grants for supported profile statistics and public videos. TikTok's scope reference describes the relevant statistics and video permissions.
